At last!

After long last, http://www.haveyourphil.com is up and running. But, I can go on and on about how funny I think I am. Why don’t we ask the adoring public (from emails and comments on “The Colonialist, a blog we used to post it on):

Your comic is fucking stupid. There’s no better way to
say it.

I did enjoy “The answer is F” and the “Find the items”
ones.

Go on and keep making fucking stupid comics, but at
least make them sarcastic or funny.

__

Most people hate Phil. Me? No. I love it, because I’m hip and post-cynical and shit.

What’s that you mutter about an emperor without clothes? Shut up.

__

Saying something is funny just to seem edgy and avant-guard does not make you cool.

Do not pretend you are special and in “the know” by understanding Phil. There is nothing to understand, that is why it sucks.

__

If everyone that didn’t have something nice to say decided not to say anything at all, there would be no such thing as “constructive criticism.” That’s precisely what this is: an attempt to make the Colonialist better by weeding out the parts of it which simply don’t, uh, make the cut. “Phil” is a comic strip. Comic strips should be funny. “Phil” is not funny. Therefore, the Colonialist should get rid of “Phil.” If thinking (and saying) this makes me an asshole in your eyes, maybe you do belong back in Kindergarten.

this comic is so terrible that it could single-handedly make me stop reading the colonialist

This comic is not funny. You are trying to be ironic and failing. Please do not pollute the website with this crap anymore.

Election Fatigue

You know, at the beginning of this whole election thing, way back in January, it was an exciting adventure. I didn’t care that much about the outcome, and it was sort of fun to watch Keith Olbermann give Chris Matthews the stink eye on their election night coverage. Now that this damn thing has stretched out far longer than it should have, all I can think of is how sick I am of both the candidates, and the media in general. Its just so tedious, irrelevant to issues, and painful.

Hillary Clinton said that if this was the Republican primary she would have won by now. No wonder she’s been running her campaign like a Republican.

This whole thing where McCain is trying to say that he was taken out of context about “100 years” is ridiculous. He said it, its on tape, that’s exactly what he said. He said it, and not only that, but there are other instances of him saying it. They’re using the old technique (great in politics) that if you say the same thing enough, people will believe its true. Incidentally, its working out great for him.

Phil Website

Something I’ve been dedicating an awful lot of time to lately on top of those papers and things and graduating and getting a job is putting together an official website for the comic that Steve and I write “Phil”. Phil runs in his school’s newspaper Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and for all the work we put into it, we’d like to share it with everyone. We also rather enjoy writing it and would like to keep it running over the summer. The comic itself is written to be very very strange. We write them to go out of our way to avoid writing punchlines and to just create absurd situations. They come in sets of three, and generally people don’t “get it” unless they’ve read a few sets of it. Here’s one of my favorites that we ran during the week of Halloween.
